There are six levels of scoring in the game of basketball:
– Level 1: At the Rim
– Level 2: Touch Shots and Floaters
– Level 3: Midrange Jumpers
– Level 4: Traditional Three’s *covered today*
– Level 5: Deep Three’s
– Level 6: Free Throw Line In this section we will cover Level 4 and how to drill scoring at Level 4. When you work on Level 4 you may struggle to get the ball to the rim. *KEY* You do not have to jump high, but getting off the ground will help you get the ball out faster. If you continue to struggle with Level 4, take a step backwards to Level 3 and work your way up.
Goal make (3) shots from the five major spots on the court.
– Start in the corner and make your way around to the wing, top, wing and opposite corner.
*KEY* Some of you may like to jump high and release the shot, some may have a lower release, the key is to get the shot off quickly
1-2 Downhill Footwork (6) makes alternating
– Start on the wing driving towards the corners of the backboard
– (1) Dribble right/left or dribble left/right
– Shoot your three
*KEY*
You may have to lower your lift point to reach the basket.
Foot Replacement with Chair (6) makes alternating
– Start with your inside foot on the 3pt line
– Take a dribble step (right hand/left foot or left hand/right foot)
– Hop and land on two while picking up the ball
– Flow through your 3pt shot
Make (10) on each side
– Start on the wing
– If you have a passer, run to the corner and catch the pass from the block area
– Step (Right Side: left/right or Left side: right/left)
– Flow straight up into your shot
Make (5) on each side
– Start at the top of the key
– Take one dribble and step across your body
– Step (Right Side: left/right or Left side: right/left)
