HoopStudy Preseason Shooting Workshop

The Shooting Transformation Weekend

Great shooting requires more than good mechanics. Athletes need to understand what shots to train, how much volume they need, how often to train them, and how to turn their work into a repeatable preseason plan.

Stop randomly getting shots up. Start training with intention.

The Problem

Most players don't need more shooting drills.

They need to understand which drills actually belong in their development.

There is no shortage of content showing athletes how to shoot. There is far less teaching them what to shoot, how much to shoot, and how to organize those reps throughout the week.

Too many athletes bounce between workouts, drills, trainers, and social media exercises without a clear understanding of their shot profile, weekly volume, or progression.

This workshop teaches athletes how to train with more intention. They'll learn which shots matter to their game, how to organize those shots throughout the week, and how to build a shooting routine they can continue after the weekend ends.

The Shooting Pillars

Train the shots the game actually requires.

Every athlete's game is different, but great shooting development must prepare players to make shots across three major categories.

01

Catch + Shoot

Build reliability when the ball finds you and the defense gives you space.

02

Off the Dribble

Develop the ability to create and convert shots when the ball is in your hands.

03

Movement Shooting

Prepare for shots created through relocation, cuts, sprints, and game movement.

The HoopStudy Shooting System

Learn how to build your shooting, not just complete another workout.

Across two days, athletes move from understanding their shooting needs to building a preseason routine they can actually follow.

01 · Assess

Understand Your Shot Profile

Identify the shots your game actually requires and where your current shooting development needs the most attention.

02 · Train

Build the Shooting Pillars

Train catch-and-shoot, off-the-dribble, and movement shooting with purpose instead of collecting random drills.

03 · Build

Create Your Weekly Plan

Learn how to organize drills, shot volume, frequency, and progression around your actual basketball and school schedule.

What You Leave With

The workshop ends. The system doesn't.

Every athlete leaves with tools designed to guide their shooting work throughout the preseason.

Included

Shooting Pillars Workbook

A framework for understanding shot types, training priorities, and how each Shooting Pillar translates to the game.

Included

Preseason Drill Library

A bank of drills organized around the Shooting Pillars so athletes know exactly what to work on after the workshop.

Included

Weekly Shooting Routine

A structure for organizing shot volume, training frequency, and progression as the season approaches.

Built For Every Level

Appropriate challenge. High-quality reps.

Athletes will be grouped throughout the workshop based on age, ability, and developmental level so they can train and compete alongside players who appropriately challenge them.

The goal isn't simply to put hundreds of shots up. It's to create the instruction, environment, competition, and intent needed to make those repetitions meaningful.

FAQ

Before You Register

Does my athlete need to attend both days?

Yes. The workshop is designed as a two-day progression, so athletes should plan to attend both Saturday and Sunday.

How will athletes be grouped?

Athletes will be grouped based on age, ability, and developmental level to create appropriate competition and coaching.

Is this appropriate for advanced players?

Yes. The framework is built around each athlete's shot profile, training needs, volume, and progression rather than one identical workout for every player.

What should athletes bring?

Basketball shoes, water, and everything needed for three hours of high-level on-court training. Additional arrival instructions will be sent before the workshop.

What happens after the workshop?

Athletes leave with the Shooting Pillars framework, preseason training structure, and supporting drills so they can continue implementing the system after the weekend.

Where is the workshop being held?

This workshop will be held at the HoopStudy Academy HQ on the Montclair State University campus at 1 Normal Ave, Montclair, NJ 07043.

Who can I contact if I have questions?

If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to Ryan Cassels at 551-222-5046 or via email at [email protected].
