How The Path Works
Step 1: Path Evaluation
A 30-minute call with the #HoopStudy team
Every Path journey starts with a Path Evaluation — a private call between you, your athlete, and our #HoopStudy Leadership Team. By the end, you will have a clear picture of where your athlete stands, three specific 90-day priorities, and an honest answer on whether The Path is the right next step. No pressure. No pitch. Just a real conversation about your athlete's journey.
Step 2: Athlete Analysis
A 60-minute breakdown with
DJ Sackmann
Your athlete sits down with DJ for a full Zoom breakdown - film, tendencies, habits, decision-making. Nothing surface level. This isn't a highlight review. It's a precise diagnosis from one of the best minds in player development. By the end, your athlete walks away knowing exactly what to change to reach their highest level.
Step 3: Coach Assignment
Matched with your private coach
Every athlete in The Path is paired with a private coach trained personally in the #HoopStudy Development System. Your coach is the one in your athlete's daily life — building the weekly plan, breaking down film, available 24/7 through our private app. Cohorts capped at ten athletes per coach. Real coaching requires real bandwidth.
Step 4: Full Ecosystem Audit
The most important call of your first 90 days
In the first two weeks, you, your athlete, and your coach get on a Zoom call for a full ecosystem audit. We don't just talk about basketball. We look at training, AAU, school team, academics, recovery, social media, recruiting profile, and the people around them. From that conversation, we build a 90-day action plan tailored to your athlete and your goals.
Step 5: Daily Coaching
Real development happens when everything is connected
Once the plan is built, execution starts. Your athlete follows a structured weekly plan inside our app — supplemental skill work, film studies, recruiting and social audits, mindset training. Your coach isn't just assigning workouts. They're managing the full picture: adjusting based on performance, breaking down film twice per month, communicating daily for real-time feedback. Nothing is random. Everything is intentional.
Step 6: In The Lab
Train where the pros train
Unlock the ability to add on in house visits at our private NBA facility in Montclair, NJ. Some athletes plan a couple of pit stops throughout the year to work with their private coach. Most athletes plan a few visits a year to work hands-on with their coach, train alongside other Path members, and step into the same environment where DJ and the #HoopStudy team develop some of the best athletes in the game.

Most Basketball Families Are Working Hard. Very Few Have A Clear Plan For What Matters Next.
The path to college basketball starts long before recruiting does. From middle school through high school, families spend real time, money, and energy on training, teams, camps, tournaments, and travel — but many still are not sure if those choices are actually moving their child in the right direction.
Are we focusing on the right things?
Is our child working on what actually matters? Are these teams, tournaments, and camps worth it? Is all this time, money, and energy really paying off? That is where most families get stuck — not because they do not care, but because they do not have a clear framework for what to do next.
Ongoing film study.
We study what is actually happening in your athlete's games — not what they think is happening. Two film studies per month means your athlete is always being evaluated, adjusted, and coached through their real performance.
Direct coaching collaboration.
Your athlete gets private access to DJ Sackmann and his coaching team — not a group chat and a PDF. Real adjustments based on real performance, and real collaboration between sessions.
A clearer roadmap for your family.
Because your athlete is being coached this closely, your family gets more than feedback. You get direction — what to focus on now, what to improve next, what decisions matter most, and how to move more intentionally toward college basketball.
